Five Components of effective language instruction

At its most basic level, oral language is about communicating with other people. It involves a process of utilizing thinking, knowledge and skills in order to speak and listen effectively. As such, it is central to the lives of all people. This booklet is designed for school children but much of it is applicable to support language acquisition in an informal work place environment. The document covers the “Five Components of Effective Oral Language Instruction”; Develop Listening and Speaking Skills, Create a Language Learning Environment, Promote Auditory Memory, Teach a Variety of Spoken Texts, Teach and Extend Vocabulary and Conceptual Knowledge, and Teach a Variety of Spoken Texts and contains many relevant suggestions for supporting the acquisition of language learning informally in your workplace.
