The Theoretical and Pedagogical Bases are aimed at providing non-professional teachers and volunteers working with adult education providers and civil society organisations (Lay Teachers) with a relevant theoretical and pedagogical referent document to introduce migrants and refugees to the national languages.

The information provided in this document has been structured on the basis of the six Units of Learning Outcomes identified in the first intellectual output of the project: the LAY TEACHERS Training Guide on Introducing refugees to national languages.

The Theoretical and Pedagogical Bases provide an analysis and description of relevant cutting-edge theoretical fundamentals and pedagogical approaches to introduce migrants and refugees to the national languages of the hosting countries.

  • Theoretical fundamentals: rules, principles or theories on which non-conventional teaching-learning methods and resources to introduce migrants and refugees to the national languages are based.
  • Pedagogical approaches: ways in which teachers apply non-conventional teaching-learning methods and resources when introducing migrants and refugees to the national languages, related with theory and practice of teaching.
